Orissa is situated in the Eastern part of India. Early settlers of Orissa were primitive hill tribes. Agro-based economy always upset by some natural calamities like cyclones, floods and droughts. The state lacked infrastructure, transport facilities and basic amenities.

Bhubaneshwar branch was opened in January 2001 with a vision to extend Micro Enterprise Development support to the poor and marginalized especially tribal in the state of Orissa.

Team of seven member staff could establish relationships with various Community Based Organizations in different part of the state quickly and implemented the program. The deserving and poor communities are now vibrant with new businesses like fishing net making, dry fish processing, coir making, bamboo craft, chandua handicraft - a traditional specialty of Orissa, leaf plate making, automobile repair shops, mobile canteen, groundnut farming, etc.

The branch is equipped with web based MIS and the operations are being effectively monitored by the Head office. The following table shows the basic statistics of the state and the achievements of the branch till date:
