Kerala is a small State tucked away in the southwestern corner of India. It represents 1.18% of the total area of India.
The Micro Enterprise Development program of The Bridge Foundation was implemented in Kerala from1997. Initially the program was managed by the Chennai branch on a small scale. As the program grew up fast, need was felt for having an independent branch office and the branch was opened in April 2000.
The branch with six member experienced and local staff could expand the program fast to make the branch best performing in terms of outreach and effectiveness within two years. The branch could able to support 9255 families in setting up of micro businesses in 655 villages through a network of 18 Social Service Societies, 15 Community based Organizations and 41 NGO's. This has brought smiles to the faces of not only families but the entire community who are beginning to understand that this opportunity would never have come their way had it not been for TBF.
The branch implemented the micro insurance program as well
The branch is also enabled with web based MIS designed and developed by TBF's domain knowledge. The head office team on a real time basis monitors the day-to-day operations.
